Bellingham, Mbappé & Co - The most valuable player for the Champions League's last 8 teams
It's that stage of the season. We are into the Champions League quarter-finals. Just the best eight teams in Europe remain. And the draw has thrown up some mouth-watering ties. Current champions Manchester City will take on 14-time winners Real Madrid, whilst Arsenal face off with Bayern Munich, looking to gain revenge on previous ties where the Bavarians slaughtered the Gunners. Elsewhere, Borussia Dortmund take on Atletico Madrid, and Barcelona face PSG.
This is the time where the best players in world football aim to stand up in the Europe's most coveted club competition. In total, across the eight squads, a staggering €7.12b of total market value remains in the Champions League. The three most valuable players in the game also all remain in this season's tournament, but who is the most valuable player at each of the last eight clubs remaining?
The most valuable player for each team left in the Champions League
Real Madrid - Jude Bellingham - €180m: At just 20 years of age, Jude Bellingham is hunting down his first Champions League title with the competition's most successful club, Real Madrid. Bellingham has been revelation at the Bernabeu this season, following his €103m move form Borussia Dortmund last summer. The midfielder has 20 goals and eight assists in 29 games for 'Los Blancos' in La Liga and the Champions League this term. Bellingham beats Vinicius Junior (€150m) and Rodrygo (€100m) to claim Real Madrid's most valuable player.
Manchester City - Erling Haaland - €180m: Erling Haaland continues to be a goalscoring machine. He was the top scorer in both the Premier League and the Champions League last season, as Manchester City claimed the title in both those competitions. The Norwegian striker has 30 goals in 34 games in all competitions this season. Haaland beats Phil Foden (€130m) and Rodri (€110m) to first place for the Sky Blues' most valuable player.
PSG - Kylian Mbappé - €180m: The Kylian Mbappé ongoing transfer saga looks to be finally coming to an end this summer, as reports claim the french superstar has agreed terms with Real Madrid and will sign for the Spanish giants on a free transfer. This will be his last chance at Champions League glory with PSG, and the 25 year old has been his usual prolific self this campaign. Mbappé has 39 goals already this season, and beats Randal Kolo Muani (€70m) and Achraf Hakimi (€65m) by someway to claim PSG's most valuable player.
Arsenal - Bukayo Saka - €130m: Arsenal are in the quarter-finals of the Champions League for the first time in 14 years, and a lot of the reason for that comes down to their 'starboy' Bukayo Saka. Saka has three goals and four assists in Europe this season, to add to the 24 direct goal contributions the Englishmen has in the Premier League. Saka takes top spot ahead of Declan Rice (€110m) and club captain Martin Ødegaard (€95m).
Bayern Munich - Jamal Musiala - €110m: Jamal Musiala has failed to hit the heights of last season, in which he had 25 direct goal contributions in 33 Bundesliga games, but he still has ten goals and six assists this campaign, and remains one of the most sought after young talents in European football. The 20-year-old German beats prolific 30-year-old striker Harry Kane (€110m) and Leroy Sané (€70m) as Bayern Munich's most valuable player.
Barcelona - Gavi - €90m: A season interrupted by injury has put a slight halt on the rapid development of Barcelona youth product Gavi. The teenager broke all sorts of records at both Barcelona and with Spain, as he burst onto the scene aged just 16. He beats fellow Spanish midfielder, two years his senior, Pedri (€80m) and Frenkie De Jong (€70m) to claim Barca's most valuable asset.
Borussia Dortmund - Donyell Malen - €40m: A former Arsenal academy product, forward Donyell Malen has found his home at Borussia Dortmund. The Dutchman has 11 goals in 24 Bundesliga games this term, and saw hi market value rise by +€10m in the March's market value update to take his value to €40m. He beats goalkeeper Gregor Kobel (€40m) and midfielder Julian Brandt (€40m) as he is the youngest of the three at 25 years of age.
Atletico Madrid - Nahuel Molina - €35m: The lowest valued most valuable player of the remaining clubs in this year's Champions League goes to Atletico Madrid full-back Nahuel Molina (€35m). The Argentine even saw his market value drop by -€10m in the latest La Liga update, and highlights the ageing squad at manager Diego Simeone's disposal. Molina beats Arthur Veermeren (€30m) and Marcos Llorente (€30m) to claim the Spanish side's MVP.
